What is the purpose of the floater?
Concrete finishing indeed employs a skimming blade for smoothing and levelling surfaces. The purpose is to provide an even and smooth surface appearance. It gets rid of all imperfections, including air pockets and excess moisture. A floater serves the purpose of compacting the surface, thus increasing strength and durability. It guarantees a concrete surface that is level and untouched by rough patches. The tool is a must in the construction industry for finishes of high quality. Types of floats are hand floats and power floats. Hand floats are for small areas and detailed work. Power floats are used to float larger surfaces quickly and easily. In this way, time is minimised while manual labour is reduced. Floating prevents, to some extent, cracks and weak spots. It extends the life of concrete constructions. Timing also matters for the usage of floaters. Using them too early damages the fresh surface. Too late means they were not very effective.
