A gear shaper is a machine tool for cutting the teeth of internal or external gears, it is a specialised application of the more general shaper machine.The shaper machine is a reciprocating type of machine basically used for producing the horizontal, vertical or flat surfaces. The shaper holds the single point cutting tool in ram and workpiece is fixed in the table.Process. In shaping, the tool is brought into position with the workpiece. The tool then repeatedly moves in a straight line while the workpiece is incrementally fed into the line of motion of the tool, this produces a flat, smooth, and sculpted surface.The size of the shaper is specified by the maximum length of stroke or cut it makes. The maximum stroke length of the shaper is 900 mm.
