Product Details
Thermocouple Type K uses a junction between Chromel & Alumel (Nickel-Chromium (Positive) & Nickel Aluminium (Negative)). It is one of the most common general-purpose thermocouples, with a usable temperature range (for the alloy) from about –200 °C to +1,250 °C The "Teflon coated / Teflon insulated" part means the two wires (Chromium + Aluminium) are insulated by a Teflon polymer This insulation acts as electrical isolation and protective jacket over the bare thermocouple wires. Construction & Materials A typical K‑type Teflon‑insulated thermocouple wire will be built roughly as follows: Component Material / Type Purpose / Notes Conductor / Core wires Nickel-Chromium (Positive) Nickel Aluminium (Negative) The thermoelectric pair that produces a voltage proportional to temperature difference Insulation around each core Fused PTFE (Teflon) Electrically isolates the wires; protects from moisture, chemicals, abrasion Outer jacket / sheath (optional) FEP, braided shield, or Teflon outer jacket Additional protection, shielding, mechanical strength Shield / braid (optional) Tinned copper or stainless-steel braid, over or under jacket.
