Material: The insulating body is a solid piece, commonly made of porcelain (usually brown glazed) or composite polymer (silicone rubber). Mechanical Strength: Ultimate cantilever strength: typically around 6 kN. Ultimate torsional strength: around 3 kNm or 4.6 kNm. Ultimate tensile strength: typically around 80 kN. Electrical Values: Wet power frequency withstand voltage: 275 kV (rms). Lightning impulse withstand voltage: 650 kVp (peak). Minimum creepage distance: around 3625 mm to 3700 mm. Dimensions: The overall height for a 132kV insulator is approximately 1500 mm. Fittings: Metal end fittings (caps and flanges) are typically made of SGI (Spheroidal Graphite Iron) and hot-dip galvanized to prevent corrosion.
