The Allen‑Bradley 1794‑IR8 is an 8‑channel Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) analog input module from the FLEX I/O series designed for precise temperature measurement in industrial automation systems. It accepts RTD sensors (such as platinum, nickel, and copper types) with nominal resistance ranges from 1 Ω to 433 Ω, making it suitable for a wide variety of temperature‑sensing applications. The module provides a high 16‑bit resolution across 435 Ω for accurate signal conversion, and supports data formats such as 16‑bit two's complement or offset binary (unipolar), enabling seamless integration with Rockwell ControlLogix, CompactLogix, or other FLEX I/O systems. It uses an RTD excitation current of approximately 718 µA and offers excellent measurement precision, with typical accuracy around 0.01 % full scale in enhanced mode and 0.05 % in normal mode (without calibration at low humidity).
