Silent diesel generators use composite materials in a generator enclosure. Usually, these are layers of hard material which bounce the sound energy back into the enclosure. They also use soft, porous materials which absorb the sound energy, converting it into heat.Inverters produce very clean electricity, which is a pure sine wave, unlike normal generators which have a total harmonic distortion of 20% or less. When it comes to silent inverter generators, these are called as such because they operate at a noise level of between 63dB and 65dB.A diesel generator (DG) (also known as a diesel Genset) is the combination of a diesel engine with an electric generator (often an alternator) to generate electrical energy. This is a specific case of engine generator.The primary difference between open and closed frame inverter generators is the noise.
