An ultrasonic flow meter measures the flow of a liquid or gas by sending ultrasonic waves across the pipe, containing the flow in the direction of the flow and the opposite direction of the flow. An ultrasonic flow meter uses the acoustic method to measure flow.Ultrasonic flow meters are commonly applied to measure the velocity of liquids that allow ultrasonic waves to pass, such as water, molten sulphur, cryogenic liquids, and chemicals. Transit time designs are also available to measure gas and vapour flow.Multi-jet meters are very accurate in small sizes and are commonly used up to 2 inch sizes for residential and small commercial users. Multi-jet meters use multiple ports surrounding an internal chamber to create multiple jets of water against an impeller, whose rotation speed depends on the velocity of water flow.A water flow meter is a device able to measure the amount of water that is flowing through a pipe. Water flow meters are used in both commercial and residential buildings and locations.There are two conventional measuring devices for water flow measurement, the positive displacement water meter and the velocity meter. Less common options include non-mechanical designs of electromagnetic and ultrasonic meters and electromagnetically meters.The prime objective of any flow meter is to measure flow rate in terms of volume or mass. However, if the size of the hole is known, the volumetric flow rate can be determined by multiplying the velocity by the area of the hole.
