6061 T6 aluminum sheet is a versatile and widely used alloy known for its excellent mechanical properties and good corrosion resistance. Here are some key features: Composition Primary Alloying Elements: Magnesium (1.0-1.5%) and Silicon (0.4-0.8%). Other Elements: May include small amounts of copper, chromium, iron, manganese, and zinc. Properties Strength: 6061 T6 has high tensile strength (up to about 310 MPa or 45,000 psi) and yield strength (around 276 MPa or 40,000 psi). Weight: Lightweight, making it ideal for applications where weight is a concern. Corrosion Resistance: Offers good resistance to atmospheric conditions and some marine environments. Machinability: Excellent machinability; it can be easily cut and formed. Applications 6061 T6 aluminum sheets are commonly used in: Aerospace components Automotive parts Marine structures Industrial equipment Structural applications like beams and frames Fabrication Can be easily welded and anodized, enhancing its surface finish and corrosion resistance.
