The "2475" refers to a two-stage reciprocating (piston) air compressor model by Ingersoll Rand. In the 7.5 HP version, the compressor uses a 7.5-horsepower motor to drive a robust, cast-iron two-stage pump. It is designed for industrial, workshop, and heavy-duty use — suitable for automotive shops, fabrication workshops, maintenance shops, production lines, and similar applications. As a two-stage compressor, 2475 draws in ambient air into a larger first-stage cylinder, compresses it to an intermediate pressure. Then the air is cooled (intercooled) and passes to a smaller second-stage cylinder for final compression to high pressure. This two-step process improves efficiency, reduces heat buildup, and allows the compressor to deliver higher pressure (compared to single-stage compressors) with relatively good energy efficiency. It's splash-lubricated (oil-lubricated), with cast-iron cylinders and a durable, precision-balanced crankshaft — ensuring smooth, stable, and long-lasting performance.
