In dairy farming a bulk milk cooling tank is a large storage tank for cooling and holding milk at a cold temperature until it can be picked up by a milk hauler. The bulk milk cooling tank is an important piece of dairy farm equipment.Bulk milk means milk that is purchased by a processor from a person other than a dairy farmer and which is purchased in a container other than the one in which the milk will be resold to a retailer or to a consumer.The machine is designed to remove heat from pasteurization and allows milk to cool down to an appropriate temperature. How does it impact? The cool temperature inside the chiller prevents the germination of bacteria and other microorganisms in milk, as a result, milk is protected from getting deteriorated.Elimination of souring/curdling of milk due to cooling at the collection centre itself. Adulteration of milk and spillage from cans can be eliminated during transport. Transportation cost of milk can be brought down by regulating transportation to the main dairy either on alternative days or once in a day.“Bulk milk tanker” means a mobile bulk container used to transport milk or fluid milk products from farm to plant or from plant to plant.Bulk milk coolers are used to chill the milk from its harvest temperature of 35–4 °C to arrest the bacterial growth and maintain the quality of harvested milk. Milk chilling practices are energy intensive with low coefficient of performance (COP) of about 3.0.
