Passenger lifts are meant only to carry people whereas the residential lifts are designed to actually transport people with their multiple belongings.Sometimes called vertical platform lifts, are best suited to smaller passenger numbers (up to 5 people) travelling shorter distances. These access lifts can range in size from one person/wheelchair user to up to five people.Hydraulic lifts work on a basic principle: to go up, a pump pushes oil into the cylinder, pushing the piston (which pushes the lift car) up. To go down, the valve opens and oil is allowed to flow back into the reservoir, and is pushed back using the gravitational force of the lift car.Different Types of Elevator. The different types of lifts or elevators include building lift, capsule lift, hydraulic elevator, pneumatic elevator, passenger lift, freight elevator, traction elevator/cable driven, residential elevators, machine room-less elevator, etc.
