A Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) treats the sewage produced from various establishments to make it safe for disposal. It performs physical, chemical, and biological processes to remove contaminants and produce treated wastewater that is safe enough to dispose of into the environment.The job of the sewage treatment system is to collect gray drains from kitchen, showers, and wash basins plus black drains from toilets and combine them with washing drains.As sewage enters a plant for treatment, it flows through a screen, which removes large floating objects such as rags and sticks that might clog pipes or damage equipment. After sewage has been screened, it passes into a grit chamber, where cinders, sand, and small stones settle to the bottom.
