Band Sealers (often called Belt Sealers) are ideal for high volume packaging and sealing thermoplastic materials like polyethylene, plastic-lined, foil and gusseted bags of almost any size or length. Operating speeds can be set lower or higher without wear to the sealer.How does a Continuous Band Sealer work? Bags or pouches are fed manually, or automatically, through the band sealer machine. As they move through the machine, they are precisely heat sealed before exiting downstream to additional conveyors or collection points.There are three classes of joint sealant materials: preformed neoprene (used only in new construction), silicone, and "all others." VDOT uses only silicone and hot-poured materials in repair work. No cold-poured materials are used. In new construction, only preformed neoprene or silicone are used.There are two common types of sealers to choose from – film forming and penetrating, with each offering their own different benefits and each suitable for different applications.Roller Marks/Streaks: Roller marks or streak marks occur when the sealer was applied too heavily, unevenly, or without maintaining a wet edge. Apply thin, even coats and if roller marks occur use Xylene to correct the problem.Continuous band sealers operate by having the pouch sealed and conveyed through one or two continuously heated jaws. With a conveyor this results in packaging that is much faster than a bar sealer, as the operator does not have to wait for the seal cycle to finish.The food industry can benefit a lot from having an automatic sealing machine because plastic packaging helps conserve many food items such as meat, cheeses as well as some pre-made dishes that otherwise run the risk of getting contaminated before reaching the customers.
