In general, the wire diameter of line wire is larger than that of barbed wire.The steel wire shall have a tensile strength of between 60,000 and 80,000 pounds per square inch and the aluminum coating shall have a minimum weight of 0.30 ounce per square foot of wire surface on the No. 12 ½ ASW gauge line wire and 0.25 ounce per square foot of wire surface on the No. 14 ASW gauge barbs.
