Polycab Fire Alarm Cables are specialized, high-performance cables designed to ensure the continuous operation of fire detection and security systems during fire emergencies. They are engineered to be flame retardant, low-smoke emitting, and resistant to high temperatures, making them suitable for critical infrastructure like hospitals, high-rise buildings, and schools. Key Description & Features Conductor: Manufactured using high-conductivity annealed plain stranded copper, typically Class 2. Insulation: Commonly uses XLPE (Cross-linked Polyethylene) or Silicone Rubber (SiR) for high-temperature resistance. Fire Performance: Features Flame Retardant (FR), Flame Retardant Low Smoke (FRLS), or Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) materials to minimize hazardous gas emission and prevent fire spread. Shielding: Available in shielded options (often Aluminum/PET tape with a tinned copper drain wire) to prevent signal interference. Armouring: Galvanized Steel Round Wire (GSW) or Flat Strip armouring is available for mechanical protection (Armoured Fire Alarm Cables). Voltage Grade: Generally rated for 300/500V or 600/1000V. Outer Sheath: Usually red in color for easy identification, made from specialized PVC or LSZH compounds. Compliance: Compliant with Indian (IS), British (BS), and international standards (IEC) for fire safety. Common Types and Sizes 2 Core x 1.5 Sqmm: Most common size for fire alarm systems. 2 Core x 0.5 Sqmm / 1.0 Sqmm: Used for specialized signal transmission.
