Oil separator means a mechanism that removes at least 50 percent of the oil entrained in the oil/refrigerant mixture exiting the compressor and returns it to the compressor housing or compressor inlet, or a compressor design that does not rely on the circulation of an oil/refrigerant mixture for lubrication.An oil water separator is a piece of equipment used to treat wastewater, making it safe to discharge into an approved discharge point, such as a sewer. It removes oils, grease and hydrocarbons, leaving only the non-hazardous water.Oil water separators are designed specifically to target oil based on the gravity difference between oil and water, allowing for heavier solids (sludge) to settle to the bottom while oil rises to the top, leaving additional wastewater in the middle layer.
