Blackout Safety System is a system which prevents a single electrical fault resulting in a ship losing its propulsion power. Typical situations where the B.O.S.S. system saves the ship from a black-out is over/under-speed on a diesel genset, a faulty voltage regulator, an overload condition and much more. The system analyzes and reacts accordingly, preventing a development into black-out. The staff on the bridge will receive a warning notification at the same time. Any numbers of generators can be operated in parallel up to full power without risk of black-outs or total loss of propulsion. The response time, from the moment of detecting a critical situation until the propulsion system can be measured in milliseconds.
