Its primary function is to verify that these crucial power distribution components can operate reliably without excessive temperature rise and withstand immense electromechanical stress during fault conditions, ensuring compliance with standards like IEC 61439, IEC 60439, and UL standards. 1. Key Test Capabilities The system is engineered to perform the following critical tests: Temperature Rise Test (Heat Run Test): The most common test. A continuous high current (rated current) is passed through the busbar system until thermal stability is reached. The temperature rise of the busbar joints, contacts, and connecting points is measured to ensure it stays within standard-prescribed limits. High-Current Withstand Test (Short-Circuit Test): A momentary, extremely high current (short-time current, $I_{cw}$) is injected for a very short duration (e.g., 1 second). This assesses the dynamic electromechanical forces and thermal limits to ensure the busbar supports, joints, and enclosure can withstand a fault condition without permanent deformation or failure.
