Sheave Diameter (D/d Ratio): The ratio of the sheave's pitch diameter to the wire rope's diameter is crucial for maximizing the rope's fatigue life. A larger ratio (e.g., a 22.5-inch sheave with a 3/4-inch rope yields a ratio of 30) significantly increases the expected lifespan of the wire rope compared to a smaller ratio (e.g., a 12-inch sheave with the same rope yields a ratio of 16).
