With acetic acid as the solvent and with catalysis by a strong acid, alpha-pinene into isobornyl acetate.The main raw material used for producing camphor is alpha pinene. This is a constituent of turpentine and is obtained by the fractionalization of the oil in vacuum.This compound can be used in chemical as well as medical industries. It has a chemical formula of C10H16O with an average molar mass of 152.237 grams per mol.
