Boring bars are used for Internal Machining on CNC or manual lathes. A boring bar is used to increase the diameter or finish machine a pre-existing hole.We have a full range of boring bars including: double clamp, steel shank, carbide shank, through coolant, lever lock and screw clamp for ALL ISO turning inserts.The most popular boring bar is 95 degree SCLCR style tool which is screw clamping and available in steel or carbide shank.For negative turning inserts, we always recommend using DOUBLE CLAMP boring bars instead of lever lock. Double clamps offer the most secure clamping, preventing insert lift and eliminating vibration. Double clamp turning tools can increase insert tool life by as much as 40% whilst improving surface finish. For deeper boring applications carbide shank boring bars can be used for boring up to 5 times diameter deep (5XD). Through coolant boring bars can increase insert tool life and help clear swarf better.
