Product Details
E8016-B6 is a low-hydrogen, all-position welding electrode classified under the AWS A5.5 (also ASME SFA-5.5) specification. It is specifically designed for welding low-alloy, heat-resistant steels that are used in high-temperature and high-pressure applications, such as those found in power plants, oil refineries, and chemical processing facilities. The electrode contains approximately 5% chromium and 0.5% molybdenum, which gives the weld metal excellent strength and resistance to heat and corrosion. E8016-B6 is commonly used to weld materials like ASTM A387 Grade 5 steel. Proper handling is essential; the electrode must be kept dry and is typically baked before use to avoid hydrogen-induced cracking. Additionally, both preheating and post-weld heat treatment are generally required to ensure optimal weld quality and prevent cracking. This electrode offers high tensile strength, good ductility, and stable arc performance, making it suitable for critical structural and pressure-boundary applications in demanding environments.
