A Shawarma Machine, which boils meat on a rotating metal spike, is also called a Vertical Broiler. It can be used to make gyros, doner kebabs, and shawarmas. The motor is at the bottom of the unit, which protects it from all of the heating elements.Shawarma is a Middle Eastern dish consisting of marinated and well seasoned meat including: chicken, beef and lamb. The meat is cooked on a vertical pole with side burners known as a shawarma machine and served sandwich style on pita bread with condiments such as tahini sauce, tomatoes, pickles and onions.Shawarma is an Arabic rendering of Turkish çevirme turning, in reference to the rotisserie-cooked nature of the meat, whic around an axis. Similar naming conventions apply to the Turkish döner and the Greek gyro, both of which reference the turning action of the associated cooking mechanism.
