These cranes are typically for outdoor applications such as loading and unloading directly onto trailers, or moving equipment around the yard for storage applications.Samson and Goliath are the twin shipbuilding gantry cranes situated at Queen's Island, Belfast, Northern Ireland. The cranes, which were named after the Biblical figures Samson and Goliath, dominate the Belfast skyline and are landmark structures of the city.Goliath is about 315 feet or 96 metres tall, whereas Samson is about 106 metres or 348 feet. Goliath is smaller and is situated inland, towards the city of Belfast. Both of them have a 140 metres span ad can lift around 840 tons at the height of 70 m or 230 feet.
