Copper flat strips are thin, solid, rectangular pieces of high-purity copper, typically 99.9% electrolytic grade (ETP). Often referred to as copper flat bars or busbars, they are primarily valued for their excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, which is second only to silver among common metals.Technical Properties Conductivity: High-grade strips offer over 101% IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard) conductivity. Malleability: Their high ductility allows them to be easily bent, punched, or drilled without cracking. Corrosion Resistance: Copper naturally forms a protective oxide layer, making these strips durable in harsh environments and suitable for direct burial in most soil types. Durability: They typically have a life expectancy of 20 to 40 years depending on environmental conditions. Common Types & Finishes Bare Copper Strip: The most common form, used where insulation is not required, such as in grounding and earthing systems. Enameled/Insulated Strip: Coated with a protective enamel or paper for use in transformer windings and motors to prevent short circuits. Tinned Copper Strip: Features a thin tin coating to enhance solderability and corrosion resistance, common in marine and solar applications. Temper Variants: Available in Annealed (Soft) for easy shaping or Half-Hard/Hard for structural rigidity in switchgear.
