SMT Cover Tape ExtenderIn electronics manufacturing, an SMT (Surface Mount Technology) cover tape extender is a specialized consumable used in pick-and-place machines. When a new reel of electronic components is loaded, this adhesive-backed film bridges the gap between the end of an old, exhausted reel and the beginning of a fresh one. By extending the cover tape, the splice prevents the machine from dropping or wasting components, reduces costly reloading downtime, and allows for continuous automated production without recalibrating the assembly feeder.
