Diethanolamine (DEA) is a clear, colorless, viscous liquid with a slight ammoniacal odor. It is an organic compound with the formula HOCH2CH2NHCH2CH2OH. DEA is primarily used as a versatile intermediate in the production of various chemicals, including surfactants, lubricants, and personal care products. It is valued for its ability to neutralize acidic components in formulations and act as a pH adjuster. Additionally, DEA finds applications in gas purification processes, corrosion inhibition, and as a wetting agent in agricultural formulations. However, like other ethanolamines, DEA can be mildly irritating to the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract and should be handled with care
