Product Details
A Digital Turbidity Meter is a laboratory and field instrument used to measure the turbidity (cloudiness or haziness) of a liquid caused by suspended particles that scatter or absorb light. It is commonly used in water quality testing, research labs, industrial processes, and environmental monitoring. Working Principle The meter works on the nephelometric method. A light beam (usually LED or tungsten lamp) is passed through the liquid sample. Suspended particles scatter the light at various angles. A photodetector (sensor) placed at 90° to the incident light measures the scattered light intensity. The meter digitally converts this into Nephelometric Turbidity Units (NTU) or Formazin Turbidity Units (FTU). Features of a Digital Turbidity Meter Digital display of turbidity values. High accuracy and sensitivity. Range: typically 0 – 2000 NTU Portable or benchtop designs. Uses calibration standards (Formazin or polymer suspensions). Some models store data and connect with PCs. Wastewater Treatment – ensuring effluent meets discharge standards. Food & Beverage Industry – in beer, wine, juices to maintain clarity standards.
