The Duct Air Velocity and Volume Sensor is an electronic air measurement instrument designed to monitor the velocity and volumetric flow rate of air passing through HVAC ducts, ventilation systems, and air distribution networks. It is used to measure the speed of moving air and determine the quantity of air flowing through a duct, providing essential information for ventilation monitoring, air balancing, energy management, and building automation applications. The sensor is typically installed within an air duct or ventilation passage to measure airflow under operating conditions. Depending on the design, it may use thermal sensing, differential pressure measurement, or another suitable airflow measurement principle to determine air velocity. The measured velocity can then be used to calculate the volumetric airflow rate based on the effective cross-sectional area of the duct.
