E309LT1-1 is a tubular, flux-cored welding wire classified under the AWS A5.22 specification, used for flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) of stainless steels. The "E309L" part of the designation indicates that this is a 309-type stainless steel filler with low carbon content, which helps minimize the risk of carbide precipitation and intergranular corrosion in high-temperature or corrosive environments. The "T1" signifies that it is a tubular flux-cored wire, while the "-1" suffix indicates that the wire is suitable for welding in all positions using carbon dioxide (CO₂) shielding gas. The primary composition of E309LT1-1 includes approximately 24% chromium and 13% nickel, along with low levels of carbon, which provide excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance, particularly when welding dissimilar metals—such as joining austenitic stainless steels to carbon or low-alloy steels.
