The initial stage is the primary treatment, which involves the removal of large solids and debris from the wastewater through physical processes such as screening and sedimentation. In the secondary stage, the remaining organic matter and nutrients are broken down through biological processes using bacteria and other microorganisms. Finally, in the tertiary stage, the treated water undergoes further treatment to remove any remaining contaminants and pathogens.
