Product Details
LCD Panel: This is the main part of the module, where the display occurs. It uses liquid crystals sandwiched between two polarized panels. These liquid crystals can be manipulated by electric currents to either block or allow light to pass through, forming the image on the screen. Backlight: Since LCDs do not emit light by themselves, they require a backlight to make the screen visible. Common types of backlighting include LED (Light Emitting Diode) backlighting. The light passes through the liquid crystal layers to illuminate the screen. Driver IC (Integrated Circuit): The driver IC controls the individual pixels on the display by sending signals to the liquid crystal layers. It can manage color, brightness, and contrast based on input data. Controller: The controller acts as an interface between the display and the device (such as a microcontroller or processor). It processes the incoming signals and translates them into a display output. Interface (e.g., Parallel, SPI, I2C): The display module will typically have an interface for communication with other electronic components. For instance: Parallel interface: Uses multiple data lines to send information simultaneously. SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface): A serial communication protocol. I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit): A two-wire protocol for simpler communication, often used in smaller, low-power applications. Polarizers: These layers control the passage of light through the display, ensuring that the liquid crystals can be manipulated to form readable text or images. Glass Substrate: This provides structural support for the LCD and is a transparent material that allows light to pass through. Touchscreen (optional): Some LCD modules include touch-sensitive layers, turning the display into a touchscreen interface for interaction with the user. Types of LCD Displays: Character LCDs: Display text and are typically used for simpler user interfaces, such as in clocks, thermostats, and other small gadgets. Graphic LCDs: Capable of displaying complex images and graphics. These are commonly used in devices like handheld game consoles, GPS units, and small TVs. TFT (Thin Film Transistor) LCD: A type of graphic LCD that offers full-color displays and better contrast and resolution. These are widely used in smartphones, tablets, and laptops
