ERNiMo-10 is a nickel-based welding filler metal classified under the AWS A5.14 specification. It is specifically designed for welding nickel-molybdenum alloys, most notably Hastelloy® C-22, a corrosion-resistant alloy known for its performance in highly aggressive chemical environments. ERNiMo-10 is commonly used in GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG) welding processes, and it produces welds with exceptional resistance to a broad range of corrosive media, including strong oxidizers, chlorides, wet chlorine gas, and acidic solutions. The typical chemical composition of ERNiMo-10 includes nickel (Ni) as the primary element, with significant additions of molybdenum (Mo) (around 15%), chromium (Cr) (approximately 22%), and small amounts of iron (Fe), cobalt (Co), and tungsten (W). This composition gives the filler metal superior resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking, even in the most challenging chemical process environments. Because of this, ERNiMo-10 is widely used in industries such as chemical processing, marine, pulp and paper, pollution control, and wastewater treatment. ERNiMo-10 is particularly useful for welding dissimilar metals, including joining Hastelloy C-22 to other nickel alloys, stainless steels, or even carbon steels, when corrosion resistance is critical. It can also be used for cladding, where a corrosion-resistant layer is deposited onto a less expensive base material to enhance durability and service life. In both fabrication and repair scenarios, this filler metal offers excellent mechanical properties and weldability, making it a reliable choice for critical applications.
