Product Details
Ethylene dichloride (EDC), also known as 1,2-dichloroethane, is a colorless, oily liquid with a sweet odor. Its chemical formula is C2H4Cl2. EDC is primarily used as an intermediate in the production of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), which is further polymerized to form polyvinyl chloride (PVC). PVC is a widely used thermoplastic material with applications in construction, packaging, automotive, and medical industries. EDC is also used as a solvent for fats, oils, waxes, resins, and as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of other organic compounds. However, EDC is considered toxic and carcinogenic, so proper safety precautions must be followed during handling and use
