Product Details
Fire survival cables are specialized electrical conductors designed to maintain circuit integrity during a fire, allowing critical safety systems to function for a specified duration (typically 60 to 180 minutes). Unlike standard flame-retardant cables that only slow fire spread, survival cables are engineered to withstand temperatures up to 950°C while resisting mechanical shock and water spray. Conductor: Usually electrolytic grade annealed bare copper (99.9% purity) for high conductivity and a high melting point (~1083°C). Fire Barrier: A layer of mica-glass tape is wrapped directly over the conductor. Mica is a mineral that retains its insulating properties even after the primary plastic insulation has burned away. Insulation: Typically utilizes XLPE (Cross-Linked Polyethylene) or silicone rubber, both of which offer high thermal stability. Sheath: The outer jacket is almost always made of LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) or FRLS (Flame Retardant Low Smoke) compounds. These limit the emission of toxic gases and corrosive acids during combustion. Armouring: Often includes galvanised steel wire (GSWA) or flat strips to provide mechanical protection and strength.
