Ceramic Tapout Cones: Precision Flow Control Ceramic tapout cones (also known as tapping cones or plugging cones) are specialized high-temperature components used primarily in the aluminum casting and non-ferrous metal industries. They are designed to provide a reliable, leak-proof seal for the tap holes of melting and holding furnaces. Key Technical Specifications Material Composition: Typically manufactured from high-purity aluminosilicate fibers (Ceramic Fiber) blended with inorganic binders. Temperature Resistance: Designed to withstand continuous operating temperatures ranging from 1000°C to 1400°C (1832°F to 2552°F). Physical Properties: * Non-Wetting: Resistant to molten aluminum and magnesium, ensuring the metal does not stick to the cone. Low Thermal Conductivity: Provides excellent insulation to prevent freezing of the metal at the tap hole. Compressibility: Semi-rigid structure allows the cone to "seat" perfectly into the tap hole under pressure. Core Applications Furnace Tapping: Used to plug the discharge hole of aluminum melting and holding furnaces. Launders and Troughs: Acting as a manual or vacuum-actuated stopper in metal distribution systems. Casting Machines: Ensuring a clean shut-off between casting cycles.
