These two parts of the system are connected by piping and electric cable, which allows the refrigerant, a cooling agent used in refrigeration products, to flow to and from each unit.A split unit air conditioner is an air conditioning system that consists out of two separate units; the water or air-cooled condensing unit and the air handling unit.A split system air conditioner is perfect for homes or rooms that can't easily accommodate window units. And because they don't require bulky ductwork, they're a convenient choice. Because no ductwork means no major installation projects. They're also much quieter than window units.Split-system central air conditioners consist of two heat exchangers, an outside unit (the condenser) from which heat is rejected to the environment and an internal heat exchanger (the fan coil unit (FCU), air handling unit, or evaporator) with the piped refrigerant being circulated between the two.
