Hydraulic presses are used in forging, molding, punching, clinching and other operations. They can create intricate shapes while being economical with materials. They also take up less space compared to mechanical presses.A hydraulic press is made up of two interconnected cylinders. Each cylinder is filled with hydraulic fluid, and one is bigger than the other. The bigger cylinder is referred to as the Ram, while the smaller one is referred to as the Plunger.The hydraulic system works on the principle of Pascal's law which says that the pressure in an enclosed fluid is uniform in all the directions. The Pascal's law is illustrated in the figure. The force given by fluid is given by the multiplication of pressure and area of cross-section.
