At a commercial grain handling operation, grain can be effectively stored and dried, as well as moved from storage to processing and transportation when the time comes.Automatic controllers can be used to adjust and record temperature, air movement, heating times and moisture content as the grain passes through the dryer. Moisture content data before and after drying can be retained in a database for inventory control and traceability of the product through the handling system.Silos are commonly used for bulk storage of grain, coal, cement, carbon black, woodchips, food products and sawdust. Three types of silos are in widespread use today: tower silos, bunker silos, and bag silos.
