ERNiCrMo-2 is a nickel-based alloy welding filler metal classified under AWS A5.14, designed for welding corrosion-resistant alloys in highly aggressive environments. It is commonly used with alloys such as Hastelloy® C-22, C-276, C-4, and similar nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys, and is particularly effective for welding dissimilar metals that require strong resistance to corrosion, pitting, and stress corrosion cracking. The filler metal is typically applied using GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), or SAW (submerged arc welding) processes. The typical composition of ERNiCrMo-2 includes nickel as the base element, with approximately 22% chromium, 13% molybdenum, and small additions of iron, cobalt, and tungsten. This combination provides outstanding resistance to a wide range of oxidizing and reducing chemicals, including chlorides, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and other harsh industrial environments. The high molybdenum and chromium content enhances protection against localized corrosion mechanisms like crevice and pitting corrosion. ERNiCrMo-2 is widely used in industries such as chemical processing, pollution control, pulp and paper, marine, and offshore oil and gas, where structural integrity in harsh chemical service is critical. It is also suitable for cladding steel components that need a corrosion-resistant surface while maintaining the mechanical strength of a steel substrate. This alloy performs well in both high-temperature and cryogenic environments, making it extremely versatile.
