Rice straw is used as feed for ruminants and for many other uses like manure, thatching, paper pulp, alcohol, mats, poultry litter and mushroom production. Besides the straw, rice also produces rice polish, rice bran and rice husk.The biochemical composition of rice straw and wheat straw is characterized by a typical composition of an agricultural-based lignocellulosic residue: it contains on average 30 – 45% cellulose, 20 – 25% hemicellulose, 15 – 20 % lignin, as well as a number of minor organic compounds.Straw is either removed from the field, burned in situ, piled or spread in the field, incorporated in the soil, or used as mulch for the following crop. Each of these measures has a different effect on overall nutrient balance and long-term soil fertility.Straw return is an effective conservation tillage measure that improves soil properties, increases crop yields, and is an efficient means of reusing agrobioenergy by-products.The paddy straw is bundled into to weigh about kg each.
