Product Details
A single wire braided steam hose is a specialized high-temperature hose designed for saturated steam applications. While many industrial hoses use textile reinforcement, steam hoses utilize a high-tensile steel wire braid to prevent the hose from bursting or "snaking" under the intense heat and pressure of steam.
1. Anatomy of the HoseThe "single wire braid" refers to the reinforcement layer sandwiched between the rubber components.

Inner Tube: Almost exclusively made of Black EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer). This synthetic rubber is used because it does not harden or become brittle when exposed to high-heat moisture.

Reinforcement: A single layer of high-tensile brass-coated steel wire braid. This provides the "muscle" to hold the pressure while remaining flexible enough for handheld use.

Outer Cover: Usually red or black EPDM. It is "pin-pricked" (perforated with tiny holes) to allow gases to escape from the carcass, preventing the cover from blistering or "popcorning."
Most single-braid steam hoses are rated for Saturated Steam, which carries different risks than superheated steam.

Flexibility: Single wire braid hoses are significantly lighter and more flexible than double-braid versions. This makes them the preferred choice for handheld steam cleaning guns and mobile sterilization units.

Pressure Handling: While a double-wire braid can handle up to $18$ bar ($261$ psi), the single-braid version is perfectly suited for low-to-medium pressure utility steam lines found in laundries, chemical plants, and refineries.
The most common failure in these hoses is "popcorning." When steam is turned off, moisture remains in the EPDM pores. When restarted, that moisture expands $1,600$ times in volume, tearing the inner liner.
Maintenance Rule: Always drain the hose after use. Never leave a steam hose "charged" and pressurized when the system is idle.
5. Recommended Fittings: Boss ClampsBecause steam causes materials to expand and contract drastically, standard worm-gear clamps are dangerous and should never be used.

Interlocking Clamps: Use "Boss" style interlocking bolt clamps. These have "fingers" that lock over a collar on the fitting, ensuring that even if the hose softens under heat, the fitting cannot be blown off.
