A heat press is a type of machine that utilizes heat in order to apply designs onto various substrates. It uses a combination of pressure from the heated upper platen onto the lower platen in order to achieve its results. The majority of presses are used to apply heat transfers onto a range of garments.Hot pressing is mainly used to fabricate hard and brittle materials. One large use is in the consolidation of diamond-metal composite cutting tools and technical ceramics. The works through particle rearrangement and plastic flow at the particle contacts.Hot pressing involves the application of a pressure through a simple shaped die. The use of such an applied pressure (10–30 ) at the temperature increases the rate and the ability to reach near-theoretical density in a reasonable time.
