Product Details
Iso-octane, also known as 2,2,4-trimethylpentane, is a colorless, flammable liquid hydrocarbon with the chemical formula C8H18. It is one of the isomers of octane, a key component of gasoline. Iso-octane is used as a reference standard for gasoline octane ratings, with an octane rating of 100. It has excellent anti-knock properties, meaning it resists premature combustion in internal combustion engines, which helps to improve engine performance and fuel efficiency. Iso-octane is also used in laboratory settings as a solvent and as a starting material in the synthesis of other organic compounds.
