While their designs vary depending on the intended application, all hydraulic lifts function using the same basic components: A hydraulic cylinder enclosing a piston. A reservoir for oil storage. A pump for generating fluid energy.The hydraulic lift is an elevator which is operated by fluid pressure generated by a suitable fluid. It is used to raise automobiles in service stations and garages. In a hydraulic lift, two pistons are separated by the space filled with liquid.Hydraulic lift is a machine used to multiply the force and it is based on Pascal law. Hydraulic lift consists of two cylinders of different cross-sectional areas connected with a pipe. The cylinders are filled with incompressible liquid and frictionless pistons are fitted in both the cylinders as shown in figure.Hydraulic lifts are used in a variety of different applications.
