A hydrostatic test pump is designed to test the pressure in a water or gas line up to 12,000 PSI to ensure the lines are safe from leaks. Hydrostatic testing is the primary method used to test for leaks and assess the structural integrity of meter skids, compressed gas cylinders, boilers, tubing, pipelines and other pressurized vessels.The pump casing cooling water passages, (if any) bearing jackets and seal chamber, etc. shall be tested at minimum 150 PSI. The steam, lubricating oil and cooling water piping system shall be tested at the 1.5 times of the Maximum Operating Pressure or 150 PSI whichever is greater. Hydrostatic Pressure = 1.3 x MAWP or Design Pressure x ( stress value at Test Temperature / stress value at design temperature ). Hydrostatic Pressure Calculation for Piping: Hydrostatic Pressure = 1.5 x Design Pressure.
