An induced draft cooling tower is also known as a mechanical draft tower with one or more fans placed at the top of the tower that draws air upwards, facing the earthward flow of water passing around the wooden decking or packing.A common structural material for smaller cooling towers, fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) is known for its high corrosion-resistance capabilities. Pultruded FRP is produced using pultrusion technology, and has become the most common structural material for small cooling towers.Induced draft cooling towers have fans that are typically mounted on top of the unit and pull air through the fill media. Conversely, air is pushed by blowers located at the base of the air inlet face on forced draft towers.
