The resin acts as industrial hard water treatment and replaces the hardness in the water with salt (brine) that is regenerated periodically.Home water softeners, also called ion exchange units, are appliances that remove calcium, magnesium, and other minerals from drinking water. Resin beads inside the softener trap the calcium and magnesium and exchange them for sodium or potassium.Industrial Water Softeners remove the calcium and magnesium ions and traps them on its filter surface which acts as a magnet. Therefore, it exchanges these calcium and magnesium ions for sodium ions which, in turn, creates softened water.Soft water has the advantage of feeling soft to the touch and, due to its low mineral content, does not damage appliances as much as hard water, thus extending the life of your plumbing. It's excellent for your hair and skin, resulting in less dryness and skin breakouts.
