J-type anchor bolts have a bend at one end to grab onto the concrete or masonry structure. These type of anchor bolts are normally cast-in-place—meaning they are inserted into the concrete as soon as it is poured. The concrete cures, and securing retains the bolts in place.J-bolts are J-shaped fasteners, threaded on the flat side. They are often used in structural applications like securing walls to concrete foundations. The bent end hooks around rebar for support, and may be cast in concrete for use as an anchor bolt.The overall length of J bolts is measured from the flat base to the bottom of the rounded part of the J. This is done on the outside of the bolt. The width is the inside measurement in the J. It is possible also to use what is known as an L bolt, which has a flat rather than hooked bottom.
