Product Description
Pumps that are partially or completely above the fluid level allow air into the suction line, which must be evacuated or displaced before the pump can move the liquid. Self-priming pumps are capable of removing air at startup before beginning its normal pumping functions.A self-priming pump is a specific type of fluid pump that needs to be filled with a liquid within the pump cavity or pump body to start the pumping process.To prime a standard centrifugal pump requires filling the pump through a priming port, which needs to be done each time it's used. A main advantage of self-priming plunger pumps is not having to take the extra step of priming it every time you use your equipment, saving significant time and labor.Centrifugal pumps with an internal suction stage such as water jet pumps or side channel pumps are also classified as self-priming pumps.
